Daryl Selby (ENG) 3-0 Arturo Salazar (MEX) 11-2, 11-3, 11-5 (29m)
A brilliant display of relaxed and flamboyant squash from the 37 years old English Daryl Selby today, against an in and out Arturo Salazar, who alternated dazzling shots with poor errors.
First two games were pretty one-sided, 11/2 and 11/3 in 8m each. A bit more meat on the bones in the third, Arturo leading 3/0 playing solid length and constructed rallies, but soon caught up by the Squash Management Dynamic7 boss, 4/4. Daryl went on dominating the rest of the game, 7/4, 11/5, closing it in 10m, to the great pleasure of a loud and supportive crowd that seemed to enjoy their drinks nearly as much as their squash….
As you could see throughout the game, he is a dangerous player. If you leave the ball on his racket then he is a dangerous player. I felt like I played well today, I’m really happy it means that the heart rate didn’t go too high and I didn’t get too stressed.
My mum comes to watch very seldom as she gets too nervous, so hopefully she wasn’t too nervous tonight.
